February is a month associated with love. On Valentines Day, it is not uncommon to see gifts exchanged among loved ones. But Jesus Christ showed us a different kind of love. He showed us Agape love. Agape love is selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love. Jesus showed us the full meaning of this kind of love through His sacrificial death on the cross. Crucifixion was a form of execution that the Romans had learned from the Persians. The Persians had developed a method of crucifying victims by impaling them on a pole. Later cultures developed different methods of crucifixion, and Rome employed several of them. By the time of Christ, crucifixion had become the favorite method of execution throughout the Roman Empire. By the time of Christ, Rome had already crucified more than 30,000 victims in and around Jerusalem. So crosses with dead or dying men hanging on them were a common site around Jerusalem and a constant reminder of Roman brutality. It was an emblem of suffering and shame. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, suffered like no other in history. He suffered physically, mentally and emotionally, yet He suffered this shame willingly for us. Why? Because He loved us. Jesus told His disciples in John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.” When we talk about being disciples of Jesus Christ & truly living to serve Him no matter what, we need to have the proper motivation. If we don’t, I fear that when the going gets tough, we’ll turn from Him as His closest disciples did during His arrest in Gethsemane. This Sunday morning we’re going to look at “Jesus: Our Suffering Savior”. We’ll see what He was willing to go through out of love for us &, hopefully, come away with a renewed love for our Savior & a willingness to follow Him no matter the cost. I hope to see you Sunday. In Him, Chris Roberts

Hello everyone! I’m sure you’re getting ready for a happy, heartfelt Thanksgiving with your family and friends. We sincerely wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope to see you Sunday! Hello my friends! This Sunday morning, I will present a lesson entitled “A Call to Worship.” The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 122:1: “I was glad when they said unto me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD.’” There is a quiet reminder in the call to worship that worship is not our idea. We worship because it is God's idea and because of who He is. If you haven’t assembled to worship God lately, please accept this as a friendly invitation to join us this Sunday! Our Bible Class is at 9:45 a.m. and Worship at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The 26th Street church of Christ always invites and welcomes you to join us!😀
Hello friends! “Why Become a Christian?” is not only this Sunday morning’s sermon title, but also, it’s a reasonable question that deserves a sensible answer. In Romans chapter 8, the Apostle Paul provides several practical answers worthy of our consideration. You certainly won't want to miss this lesson! Our Bible Classes start at 9:45 a.m. and Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The 26th Street church of Christ invites and welcomes you to join us!😀
Hello folks! We all have dreams, whether they are dreams for ourselves, our families, or our God. But have you ever experienced the death of a dream or dreams due to resistance, failure, or even opposition from God? Yes, sometimes our dreams are not God's dreams. This was a valuable lesson King David learned when he wanted to build a house for God! If you would like to learn what you can do if your dreams die, please join us this Sunday! I will be presenting a lesson entitled "Dare to Dream Again!" You won't want to miss this lesson! Our Bible Classes start at 9:45 a.m. and Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The 26th Street church of Christ invites and welcomes you to join us!😀
